Client profile
An EU-based software house that designs and supplies turnkey integrated systems for industrial-grade geophysical, magnetic, gamma-ray spectrometry, ground-penetrating radar, and bathymetric surveys. Their products are deployed in mining and exploration, infrastructure inspection, environmental monitoring, hydrography, and academic research, in operational environments where data confidentiality and offline processing matter.
The challenge
The client builds turnkey survey systems where hardware sensors, real-time data acquisition, post-processing pipelines, and operator-facing planning software all have to behave as a single product. Each new sensor type or survey workflow expands the software footprint. Engineering capacity has to scale up and down with product cycles, without diluting the senior-level design judgement that the platform depends on.
How we worked
- •Established a small, senior-led engineering pod working under the client's product roadmap rather than as a transactional vendor
- •Took ownership of clearly bounded subsystems within the integrated platform, with versioned releases and documented change control
- •Aligned on long-running working agreements covering IP assignment, data handling, and operational confidentiality from the outset
- •Maintained a stable team across multiple product generations, so domain knowledge accumulates rather than resetting at each engagement
Outcome
- •Steady delivery of new survey-system features in lockstep with hardware and sensor integrations
- •Reduced internal engineering load on the client side, freeing their core team for product and customer-facing work
- •Continuity of platform knowledge across multi-year product evolution, including legacy maintenance
- •All work product and source code transferred under formal IP assignment at delivery
